The North Carolina School of the Arts is a very prestigious arts school in
Winston Salem NC. The school’s campus is comprised of 67 acres located just outside of historic Old Salem making the campus beautiful and welcoming. The school maintains small classes and an outstanding instructional faculty which allows the school to continue its long standing tradition of providing quality, rigorous training.
 When
the North Carolina School of the Arts opened in
1963 it was the first state-supported,
residential school of its kind in the nation.
Offering high school, undergraduate and Master’s
curriculum in five different professional tracts
which include, dance, design and production,
drama, film-making and music, the NC School of
the Arts became part of the greater University
of North Carolina system in 1972. The school
operates with a mission to train students from middle school through graduate school for professional careers in various arts. Performance and experiential experiences play an integral role in the training that students receive. Throughout the year, students, faculty and guest artists present more than 400 public performances and screenings which the greater public is welcome to attend, making the school a large asset to the thriving arts and cultural community in Winston Salem.
