Bennett College, located in Greensboro North Carolina, is a four year liberal arts college that was founded in 1873. This private college originally began as a means to educate newly emancipated slaves and eventually it became a women’s college in 1926.
Today, Bennett College has a fifty-five acre campus located in downtown Greensboro, NC with close proximity to the
Piedmont-Triad International Airport. The college has roughly 600 students and still remains a predominately African American institution. In fact, Bennett College for women is only one of two historically black institutions that are exclusively for women. There are twenty-four degrees available for study and the school also offers several dual degree programs with the help of
North Carolina A&T State University.
 Bennett College is ranked 16th among the best historically black colleges and universities due to its academic achievements and its reasonable tuition rates.
