attractions.
The Blandwood Mansion is among one of the favorite places to visit
for Greensboro residents and visitors to the area. The home was built for former North Carolina Governor John Motley Morehead, and is a historical landmark as the original two story farmhouse was constructed in 1795. The mansion is an extra special landmark, however, as it is the oldest standing example of Italianate architecture left in the United States. Surrounded by
four acres of lush gardens, the home has been beautifully refurnished to reflect the time. Tours are offered each day.
The Greensboro Children’s Museum is a place where children of any age can enjoy hands on learning experiences. This interactive children’s museum has over 20 permanent
exhibits and covers its entire 37,000 square foot location in downtown Greensboro. Kids as young as 1 year
old will enjoy many of the interactive exhibits, and school-aged children relish an opportunity to stroll through “Our Town” where children can become part of a make believe world.
Here they can go grocery shopping, make deposits at the bank and numerous other fun activities.
The Greensboro Coliseum complex brings several events, shows and different acts to the region and entertains thousands each year. The coliseum is also where most of the sports events taking place in Greensboro happen as well.
